What is Mindful Medicine?
Mindfulness is not concerned with emptying your mind of thoughts or achieving any particular state. It is about being present in the here and now. When we’re mindful we pay attention to our thoughts, bodily sensations, emotions and the environment, with kindness and curiosity, letting go of judgements, critical thoughts and preconceived ideas.
Mindful medicine is applying these technique to our work with patients, to improve both their health and happiness and our own. There is an increasing body of literature that mindful practices reduce rates of stress and burnout, enhance decision-making, reduce errors, improve emotional regulation, and increase compassion towards patients
